A Bit About Us

I was born in South Africa (since ages ago!) From the age of 5 I wanted to become a vet and started breeding English Bulls dogs. I grew up in the city but moved out to the country side to do a Diploma in Veterinary Technology to get my foot in the door. After which I started my own business as a large animal reproduction consulting service. I qualified as a vet from Onderstepoort and did a post graduate diploma through the Royal Vet College, University of London. In 2011 I came to New Zealand for work and fell in love with the country and its people so migrated here in 2013. Since living in New Zealand, I have worked for MPI and MSD and opened the West Melton Vet Centre on the 30th October 2017. I have a husband named Rudi and two children called Rudi and Peter. We as a family love being part of the West Melton Community.

I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1991 and spent 10yrs in companion animal veterinary practices. In 2001 I completed an Honour’s degree in Psychology and then in 2011 travelled to Canada and was employed with the Ontario Veterinary College where I was head co-ordinator of the OVC Pet Loss Support Hotline. In 2015 I returned down under and across the ditch to New Zealand to continue my work. I have worked in clinics in Christchurch the past 3 years and started here at the West Melton Vets in May 2018.

I have lived in West Melton since I was 6yrs old so have always loved being around all sorts of animals. I graduated as a veterinary nurse in 2011 and worked at the Halswell Vet Clinic for 7 years before joining the West Melton Vet Centre in November 2018. I am really enjoying the challenges and rewards the role brings me. I have plenty of animals of my own to keep me busy as well as enjoying the outdoors and helping out on my partners farm.

I grew up in Christchurch and have been around animals most of my life. I love the outdoors, hiking and Kayaking and I also have a passion for art and painting in watercolour. I completed a certificate in Veterinary Nursing, graduating in 2016. I have been part of the West Melton Vet clinic since July 2018 and also volunteer at the SPCA on weekends along with fostering animals in need.

I am a West Melton local currently studying towards a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing. I have two dogs Pie and Dixie, some chooks and two children. I am from a farming family and enjoy the outdoors and horse riding when time allows. I have been working at the West Melton Vet Centre since March 2018 and love the variety my job offers and working with all different animals.
